Disclaimer
SnowPredictor.ca provides snow day probabilities and winter-weather information to help Canadian students, parents, families, and educators prepare for possible school closures and weather-related disruptions.
The information provided is intended for general planning purposes. SnowPredictor.ca does not make school closure decisions, issue emergency warnings, or replace announcements from school boards, transportation providers, government agencies, or recognized weather authorities.
Snow Day Predictions Are Estimates
SnowPredictor.ca uses weather information and location-based factors to estimate the probability of a school closure. A prediction percentage reflects the information available when the estimate is generated.
It does not guarantee that a school will close or remain open.
Weather conditions can change quickly, while school closure decisions may also depend on road conditions, transportation safety, school board policies, storm timing, and other local factors that may not be fully reflected in a prediction.
For more information about the factors considered, you can review our snow day prediction methodology.
School Boards Make the Final Decision
SnowPredictor.ca does not determine whether schools close, open late, or cancel transportation. Those decisions are made by individual school boards, transportation providers, and other responsible authorities.
A high snow day probability does not mean a closure has been confirmed. Likewise, a low probability does not guarantee that schools will remain open.
Before making decisions about school attendance, transportation, childcare, work, or travel, confirm the latest information directly with your school board or transportation provider.
Forecasting Limitations
Weather forecasting involves uncertainty. Conditions may vary between nearby communities because of snowfall intensity, wind, freezing rain, temperature changes, elevation, lake-effect snow, road conditions, and other local factors.
Forecast information can also change as a storm approaches and newer data becomes available.
Prediction results should therefore be used as planning guidance rather than treated as a guarantee of what will happen.
Use of Information
You are responsible for deciding how you use information provided by SnowPredictor.ca.
SnowPredictor.ca is not responsible for missed school or work, travel problems, childcare arrangements, transportation issues, financial loss, or other consequences resulting from decisions made solely on the basis of a prediction.
For safety-related decisions, use current information from the appropriate school board, transportation provider, weather authority, or local agency.
Additional conditions governing use of the service are explained in our Terms and Conditions.

Confirm Closures Before Making Plans
SnowPredictor.ca is designed to help users prepare for the possibility of a snow day. It should not replace confirmed closure notices or safety information from the organizations responsible for those decisions.
For confirmed school closures, bus cancellations, delayed openings, weather warnings, and safety instructions, check your school board, transportation provider, local authorities, and recognized Canadian weather services.
